Test Management

There is increasing pressure to stay competitive. Not only is there a trend towards shorter release cycles in software development, but industrial and financial companies alike are constantly racing to be the first to launch a new product. At the same time, more and more regulatory requirements are being introduced which puts companies under additional pressure. Requirements need to be met fast, with an eye for detecting erroneous concepts as early as possible to prevent software failures in the production environment.

Agile projects and modern approaches of software development such as continuous integration and DevOps lead to shorter project and release cycles.
This contrast between speed of innovation and maintaining quality standards within IT infrastructures is imposing tremendous challenges on test management.

It becomes critical to be able to detect potential errors in the software through efficient testing as well as to scrutinize all results at an early stage by applying the appropriate methodologies.

We assist you during every stage in the test management process – from test planning and design to test definition and its implementation in all functional and technical areas. We are proud of the expertise in test management we have and that it has already helped numerous clients to bring their project to success.
We combine proven test methods with marketable standard approaches like ISTQB as well as profound functional business knowledge. With professional organization, risk analysis and reporting we ensure that your project succeeds also – under the time and budget restraints and with the high quality you expect.

The application of test automation will help you to early detect defects and regression effects and will reduce the manual test effort especially for recurring test activities to an acceptable level. Though not all test areas can be automated in a cost-efficient way. Most value is generated for regression tests on unit- or system integration level. We can define for you the most efficient application and level of automation and provide you with an individual applicable solution. This will be either based on an in-house development or by using standard tools (like Junit, Cucumber, Selenium, UFT, Tosca, etc.)

Our services in Test Management include (extract):

  • Concepts for an effective and systematic testing approach and for test management
  • Compilation of test plans and run books for the test execution

As part of the integration of the standard software Ambit Focus from the vendor FIS at a German Landesbank, we were responsible for project management, business analysis and test management. Firstwaters took over the entire test planning, conception and execution using the standard software HP ALM. After analysing the business and technical requirements, we created risk-oriented test cases for the system integration and acceptance tests. With the tools created for test automation, the department was able to achieve a significant reduction in test efforts even after a successful go-live in subsequent releases.
