Integration of Standard Software

In order to meet client´s software requirements, a make-or-buy decision needs to be made, e.g. whether to apply standard software or develop a custom solution.

When deciding for the first option, it is important that the set of available systems from which can be chosen, is comprehensive and that this set is being evaluated objectively. Conducting a cost benefit analysis is an essential aspect in this process.

When integrating new software into heterogeneous IT infrastructures, functional and technical modifications are required so that the software can be seamlessly configured and adapted to existing processes. Additionally, existing manual processes should be automated and optimized to fit the software and remain consistent with business requirements.

With the decision to replace their existing trading and settlement platform with a solution based on Murex 3.1, Firstwaters was authorized with project lead of the project. Alongside to the definition of the project setup, the coordination of the cooperation with the vendor Murex was a central task of the project management. In addition, other Firstwaters consultants were involved in the Business Analysis and management of the test activities. In close cooperation with the client and Murex as vendor, the new Front-to-Back platform was successfully introduced over several project phases.

With the implementation of Calypso as back office for FX and MM, an old host system in an Austrian bank was replaced. 

Subsequently, Firstwaters was assisting the bank to integrate and service approximately 50 Austrian savings banks. We advised as consultants in the roles of project management, business analysis, development and test.
